Forward-thinking, fast paced company looking for interns with strong knowledge and understanding of journalism, social events in their respective locale and the digital media landscape, including but not limited to various social media websites and social media campaigns. In order to integrate into our vibrant and passionate team the individual considered for this position must be a self starter who is able to work in an independent environment with strong critical thinking skills.
My Social Events interns will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in journalism through a variety of projects and assignments. Ideal candidates would a) reside in New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, Las Vegas, Washington D.C., Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Francisco, Nashville, Denver, Boston, Columbus (Ohio), Louisville (Kentucky) or London, U.K. and b) possess the following qualifications: strong writing and verbal communication skills (good use of grammar and AP style), knowledge of a variety of press materials including releases and alerts, proficiency in Word and Wordpress, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks, understand social media tools and have a high level of personal integrity, responsibility and dependability. Candidate would ideally be a college student from an accredited university with a journalism, public relations, marketing or related major who is at least 21 years of age (for entry into some of the night life venues which the candidate would cover).
If selected, candidates will be tasked with a variety of journalism activities including, but not limited to: clipping and reporting, writing, editing, pitching, social media, creative and strategic thinking.
