JapanFest is in its 28th year. Attracting approxitely 19K people every year, it is designed to promote an understanding between Japanese and Americans in the Southeast. The theme this year is “Washoku—Traditional Japanese Cuisine” Try roll sushi, bento boxes, ramen noodles, takoyaki, shaved ice, curry rice, yakisoba, and more prepared by local Japanese restaurants. Enjoy a variety of culutual experiences including taiko drumming, J-Pop, dance performances, and martial arts. Purchase Japanese goods including kimonos, Japanese tea, dolls, rice paper, Japanese ceramics, and traditional Japanese accessories. In the children’s area, you can make your own Japanese tops and kites and take part in.
